Lemonade was written inspired by my wife’s lemon plant she nurtured and watch grow while she was going through a divorce in 2015 .

It was encouraging for her to see that the seeds she planted were sprouting and giving her a sense of hope, literally taking a sour situation and making lemonade is what we tried to do .

For I too had gone through a divorce, the same month and year that she did. And we re-met in 2019 after not seeing each other since we’re little children. It felt really divine how we came together after all these years and got married .

I wrote this song for her and rapped it for her spoken word style at our wedding ceremony then later got this dope feel good beat from Newselph and asked David morin to sing the soulful hook and bridge, plus Dj K-rec blessed it with some fresh cuts ... I’m really happy how it turned out !

ive put down the past rose coloured lenses/ nor am I looking to grass on the other side of fences / I just want to pour you this glass like it cleanses/ us from any trash like bitterness or resentments / we’ve came together like heaven did send this / angels blew the horn and we entered a new entrance/ left two exits, two separates, became one in the light of the sun like moon reflections /I’m swooned by your laugh cause it’s so infectious/ I want you to bloom like Gardenia’s freshness/
and by now you know the way that I express this/ through poetry and rap, you’ll feel my textures/ our first date we did configurate like Tetris /had a broke heart but like folk art we’re not pretentious/ or judgemental loves the pencil we’re the sketches/ In this perfect picture in the present tense cuz/

Once upon a time in a land far away on the playground yeah we used to play/ fast forward triple the decades and take an other sip from this lemonade/ the day that we re-met I won’t forget/ I wrote it in my journal eternal sunset/ now the sun rises in both our eyes there lit / like the stars glitter in the Big Dipper we’ll sit/ and view this world from a brand new perspective/ we haven’t been yet in this vignette it’s / tantalizing like yellow fruit split/ half a cup of sugar and some ice cubes wet / so let’s just sip from this cup so refreshing, and when we’re stressing we’ll keep it cold pressed and/ stay in the blessing for this next chapter/ we got plans to live happily ever after.
